ROHM has designed a buck DC-DC converter IC with built-in MOSFETs (switching regulators), the BD9S402MUF-C, for automotive applications including infotainment and ADAS, including increasingly advanced on-board sensors and cameras.

The new device offers a new load response performance selection feature that allows users to easily switch priorities between "Voltage Ripple" (industry-leading stable operation) and "Capacitance Reduction" (ensures stable 22 μF operation) via terminal settings. As a result, users can greatly reduce the resources required for power circuit design, because stable operation can be easily achieved not only in the initial design but also through changes in specifications or models.

The device also supports output voltages as low as 0.6V and 4A output currents with switching frequencies higher than 2MHz, and is compact in size to meet the needs of increasingly complex secondary power applications for high-performance MCUs and SoCs. Using QuiCur's proprietary high-speed load response technology, it can operate stably at an industry-leading 30mV (measurement conditions: 5V input voltage, 1.2V output voltage, 44µF output capacitor, load current change 0 ~ 2A/2µs). This means that output voltage fluctuations are reduced by 25% compared to a best-in-class standard product with equivalent functionality, making it ideal for the latest ADAS, requiring 5 % stable operation.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements of secondary DC-DC converter ic 2MHz or higher operation and 4A output current in ADAS, the device's unique Nano Pulse Control ultra-high-speed pulse control technology provides next-generation low-voltage as low as 0.6V output, much lower than the typical 1V voltage output required by current socs and MCUs. At the same time, it is equipped with QuiCur high-speed load response technology to achieve extremely stable operation. Even at a low output voltage of less than 1V, it can suppress 5% of the voltage output variation, which makes it very suitable as a secondary power supply for the latest ADAS.
