   In the DARWIN series, Maxim Integrated MAX32672 is an ultra-low power, highly Integrated, cost-effective and highly reliable 32-bit microcontroller that allows the design of complex sensor processing without compromising battery life. It combines a flexible and versatile power management unit with a powerful Arm Cortex-M4 processor with an FPU. It also provides a simple and cost optimal upgrade path for traditional designs from 8-bit or 16-bit microcontrollers.

   Power interruption detection provides correct operation through power down and power up events, as well as unexpected power supply transients. The flash is organized into two physical banks of equal size to allow write-while-execute and facilitate "live upgrades". The device contains 1MB of flash and 200KB of SRAM to accommodate application and sensor code. ECC executes on the entire flash, RAM and cache, providing extremely reliable code execution even in the most difficult environments.

   Two low-power comparators, provided in all low-power modes, allow power saving monitoring and wake-up from external analog signals. The ROM provides an encrypted secure bootloader based on ecdsa. The device is available in 5mm x 5mm, 40-pin TQFN-ep or 7mm x 7mm, 56-pin TQFN. Multiple high-speed peripherals are also available, including 3.4MHz I2C, 50MHz SPI and UART to maximize communication bandwidth.

   In addition, a low power UART (LPUART) is provided for operation in the lowest power sleep mode to enable wake-up activity without loss of data. A total of six I/O capable timers are provided, including two low-power timers to allow pulse counting, capture/compare, and PWM generation, even in the lowest power sleep mode. An incremental/quadrature encoder interface with various diagnostic functions is used, especially for motor control applications. A 1Msps, 12-channel, 12-bit SAR ADC is combined to digitize analog sensor signals or other analog measurements.
