The input voltage of the MAX5023/MAX5024 high voltage linear regulator ranges from +6.5V to +65V and the output current can reach 150mA. It operates in the automotive temperature range (-40°C to +125°C) and comes in a heat-enhanced surface mount 8-pin SO-EP package.
Typical Operating Circuit
These devices consume only 60μA of static current when unloaded and are subjected to a reverse battery voltage of -60V at the input. The MAX5023/ MAX5024 includes an active-low internal microprocessor (μP) reset circuit that makes assertions based on the selected device when the regulator output falls below a preset output voltage threshold of 7.5% or 12.5%. Both devices have a fixed +3.3V or +5V output.

These devices have short circuit protection, including hot shutdown. In addition to turning on or off the regulator's enable input, the MAX5023/MAX5024 includes a HOLD input that allows a self-holding circuit to be implemented without the need for external components. Setting HOLD to low after enabling the regulator forces the regulator to remain on even if EN is then set to low. Releasing the HOLD will turn off the regulator.
The MAX5023 has a watchdog input that monitors the pulse train of μP and generates a reset pulse if the watchdog input is at a high or low level for longer than the 1.6s watchdog timeout. The MAX5024 includes a SET input that, when connected to ground, selects a preset output voltage of +3.3V (MAX5024S/ MAX5024T) or +5V (MAX5024L/MAX5024M). Connect the Set to the output of the regulator through a resistive voltage divider network to set the adjustable output voltage.
